Why does Carport require me to close the program entirely in order to create a new job

If I close down close my PC in other words close the cover to the PC but not shut it down and reopen it, I cannot continue with the current loaded program I have to close the program entirely and then reboot the program which takes five to ten minutes and then sometimes I have to reboot the PC there's anybody know why?
