i own a golf AJM engine, but i would also like to diagnose other cars...

I am looking to get diagnostic software. Currently looking to carport and vcds little. vcds little is way expensiver but you get a cable and unlimited updates. Here i cant really find information what am i paying for. if i got it right i pay 69€ and i dont get cable to connect to a car ecu and only get a 1 year software update. Im also wondering is this software on pair or better from vcds?
